About the company
Our client is an international consumer technology company developing engaging digital products for a global audience. Its subscription-based platform combines interactive content, product innovation and data-driven experiences to drive long-term user engagement and retention.
The role
Creative teams develop the games and content users love. This role defines what that content needs to achieve and ensures it delivers measurable business impact.
You will be the data-driven counterpart to creative leadership. While creative teams own how content is developed, you will own what gets developed, what gets scaled, what gets discontinued and how success is measured.
This is not a reporting role. You will be expected to find answers, independently or with analytical support, translate insights into decisions and take accountability for the results.
What you’ll do
- Content portfolio strategy: Decide which games and content to launch, extend, scale or retire based on their measured contribution to paid subscriber retention.
- Content success criteria: Define performance targets for new content before launch and at each review stage, including early engagement, repeat play and retention among engaged users.
- Performance ownership: Own content’s contribution to paid subscriber retention as the primary KPI, defining and defending the leading indicators that drive it.
- Release strategy and LiveOps: Manage the weekly release cadence and content calendar, including launch timing, packaging, sequencing and audience exposure. The Content LiveOps Manager will report to you.
- Content experimentation: Build a continuous pipeline of experiments across launches, content packaging and discovery, with clear criteria for deciding what should be rolled out.
- Content discovery and presentation: Partner with Product and Design to improve in-app discovery, content surfaces and features. Collaborate with the personalisation leadership team to define the performance objectives for content recommendations.
- Performance reporting and strategy: Give senior leadership a clear view of content performance, key insights and recommended next steps.
Where the role sits
- Reports to the VP of Studios and works alongside creative and production leadership.
- Partners closely with Product and Content Analytics, building on established company-wide metrics and content measurement frameworks.
- Collaborates with Growth on shared in-app surfaces, representing the content organisation’s priorities.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience owning game or content performance as a Product Manager, General Manager or LiveOps leader within a gaming business. You have delivered measurable KPIs, not just reported them.
- Experience making data-driven decisions to launch, scale or discontinue products and content, including the ability to reflect on decisions that did not work.
- Strong understanding of retention curves, cohorts, engagement, session metrics and subscription renewals, with the ability to distinguish meaningful signals from noise.
- Hands-on analytical skills, including SQL, Amplitude or equivalent tools, and the ability to work effectively with analysts.
- Experience managing a release cadence, content calendar or live-events pipeline.
- A strong commercial mindset. You understand creative processes but make decisions based on measurable outcomes rather than personal preference.
- Experience leading a small team and building a function from an early or partially established starting point.
Nice to have
- Experience in a subscription-first consumer business where retention is a key driver of commercial performance.
- Experience with products designed for children or families, including an understanding of the additional considerations involved.
- Product ownership of a personalisation or recommendation system.
